In a movement to reinforce the digital panorama of Pakistan, Elon Musk Starlink has received a temporary certificate of non -objection (Noc) to begin its services in the country, Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
Information Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja confirmed the development on Friday, noting that Starlink had secured a temporary record, after the guide of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In his statement, the minister emphasized that the approval occurred after exhaustive consultations and consensus among all security and regulation agencies.
Pakistan’s Telecommunications Authority will ensure that Starlink adheres to the country’s regulatory framework, including tariff payments and license obligations.
“This marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation trip of Pakistan,” said Shaza. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sharif, Pakistan is making substantial advances to improve his internet infrastructure,” he added.
The prime minister has instructed comprehensive reforms to improve connectivity throughout the country, with the Starlink registration seen as a critical step to carry out this vision.
Highlighting the satellite Internet transformative potential, the minister said that the approval would provide a very necessary impulse to connectivity, particularly in unattended and remote regions.
“Modern solutions such as Satellite Internet will not only improve connectivity, but will also close the digital gap in Pakistan,” he said.
The successful facilitation of the Government of the Starlink registry occurred through an approach to the entire government, with the collaboration of key institutions, including cyber crimes, PTA and spatial authority.
Shaza expressed optimism that this development would lay the foundations for the official launch of satellite -based Internet services, marking the dawn of a new era in Pakistan digital connectivity.
