The judge of the Anti -Terrorist Court of Islamabad (ATC) said on Tuesday that state institutions in Pakistan are currently under the influence of “other powers”, which express concern about the lack of responsibility and cooperation in judicial matters, said Express News on Tuesday.
The comments were made by Judge Tahir Abbas Supra during a bail hearing for Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) legislator Ali Shah. The judge criticized the Prosecutor for not producing the required case record, questioning whether it was a deliberate act.
“All departments seem to be in the hands of other powers at this time,” said the supra judge, insinuating interference in state affairs.
When the prosecutor informed the court that the investigation officer (IO) was in Mandi Bahauddin and had not returned, the judge questioned the understanding of the Prosecutor’s Office of his responsibilities.
“To this day, I do not understand the real responsibility of the Prosecutor’s Office,” he said. “If the investigation officer does not appear, who is the responsibility of?”
The prosecutor replied that his duty to submit the case registration begins only after officially receiving it. In response, Judge Supra expressed his frustration for what he described as the “stubbornness” of Islamabad prosecutors, whom he said “consider himself the same as the judges.”
He warned that more delays in the presentation of the case registration could result in the fact that notices are issued against the Prosecutor’s Office.
“We are all going through an unusual situation,” added the Judge supra, criticizing the state of government and emphasizing the role of officials to guarantee justice.
The hearing was postponed until Tuesday to allow the investigation officer to present the necessary documents.
