Las Vegas, Nevada – Steak N ‘Shake has only been accepting Bitcoin payments for two weeks, but the director of operations of the American fast food chain, Dan Edwards, said it has already been a “victory” for both the company and its customers.
Speaking in Bitcoin 2025 in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Edwards said Bitcoin payments have been faster and cheaper than traditional credit card payments.
“When customers choose to pay in Bitcoin instead of credit cards, we are saving about 50% in our processing rates,” Edwards said. “This means that Bitcoin is a victory for the client, it is a victory for us as a merchant and is a victory for the Bitcoin community.”
Edwards said that on May 16, Steak N ‘Shake began to accept Bitcoin payments, one in 500 Bitcoin transactions worldwide occurred in Steak N’ Shake.
“Accept Bitcoin allows us to meet our clients where our customers are,” Edwards said. “We were trying to provide our customers with another viable option for which to pay for our products. We understand that allowing customers to pay with Bitcoin along with cash and credit cards, puts Bitcoin on par with those methods, those other payment methods accepted worldwide.”
Edwards added that he can buy more than a hamburger and fried potatoes with his sebum with his bitcoin in Steak N ‘Shake: The company is also allowing possible franchisees to buy their franchises with Bitcoin.
With the success of Bitcoin Payments, Edwards said the company is looking for other ways in which technology can adopt to bring its food to the future, including robbery taxis, cyber-chefs and drones.
