- Steam’s latest update adds a new performance monitoring function
- The overlap can show FPS values, monitor the use of CPU and GPU, and more
- Valve says that the overlap is designed to help players understand how their PC is working and how it affects the performance of their game.
Valve has launched a new update of the Steam client that allows players to easily monitor the performance of their games.
As explained in a new blog post, this update adds a performance monitoring and is “designed to help you understand how your PC is working and how it is affecting the performance of your game.”
Unlike the previous frames of Marcos per second (FPS) that can be alternated to appear in the corner of a game, this new feature will monitor the values of the frame speed, but will also break the generated frames of the FP of Super Super Super Sampulino (DLSS) or Fidelityfx Supervolution (FSR) vs. fps in the game.
There are four monitoring levels with this overlap, including unique FPS value, FPS details, FPS details, use of CPU and GPU, and FPS, CPU, GPU and RAM.
“You can show you unique min/max values and a frame speed chart over time,” Valve explained. “In addition, it will show the performance information of the CPU, the performance information of the GPU and the information use of the system memory. These data can be useful to understand the causes of the performance of the incorrect game, whether a slow CPU, GPU or too high graphic configurations that are in excess subscribing to their video or RAM of the system.”
When enabled, the overlap will appear at the bottom of the screen, but the players can keep the small screen with a single FPS value or expand it to show the complete details when purifying a performance problem.
Players can freely adjust live details in the game, change color saturation, text size and background opacity to their liking, show an SPF chart over time and a CPU use chart by nucleus.
To enable the new performance overcome, users must go to Settings> in the game and move down to the new Performance overlap section. There, you can change the overlap position, make a quick access key for easier and more.
Valve also said he has plans to add additional data to performance overlap, “to detect certain common hardware performance scenarios and show a broader summary of the performance of his game in the overlap itself when you press the top-tab on duty.”
