“Probably, I mean, I don’t have any real relationships with any of those fans. More or less on the face of it, there’s always a lot of different things being said, some things that are benign and some things that aren’t. I think there’s a mentality that you pay for a ticket and say whatever you want. I think there should be some code of conduct. Obviously, that was intentional, and I think there was some celebration afterwards on their part.
“Obviously, don’t tolerate what DK [Metcalf] did. I understand, you know, there have been a lot of crazy comments my way over the years. The truth is, that would never happen face to face. You know, even some of the people who hate me the most in the cities I’ve played against over the years, especially in the NFC North, it’s always pretty cordial when you see some of those people outside. But in that environment, you know, a lot of things are said. There are two sides to every story. And I support DK. I will continue to support DK. And this point happened.”
Rodgers said there were several factors that explain why negative interactions with fans have increased over the years.

He noted how fantasy football, sports betting and social media use, while having some advantages, have increased and come out of the shadows into normal life.
“At the same time, as you see parts of society erode, let’s say, maybe behavior has changed a little bit over the years,” Rodgers said. “Now I’m all for good trash talk and, you know, the Dawg Pound (in Cleveland) has a great fan base. I love banter with the fans. I was joking with the fan in the stands the other day. He was yelling a bunch of stuff at me and his voice cracked. I was joking about it, but there’s a line, I think there’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed.
“You don’t hear much of that playing in Lambeau over the years. Those are some of the nicest fans you can imagine. You’re a visiting fan, you walk through the Lombardi, you find your way to a back door. You probably have a beer in your hand, maybe PBR and brat, it’s not the same everywhere in the league.”
