Steelers’ George Pickens makes surprising comment after playoff loss to Ravens

The Pittsburgh Steelers were eliminated from the playoffs Saturday night in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens, 28-14.

The Steelers came alive in the third quarter with two touchdown passes from Russell Wilson to make the game interesting as Ravens running back Derrick Henry ran all over Pittsburgh’s defense. Beyond those two touchdowns, the Steelers were unable to generate any offense.

Baltimore outscored Pittsburgh 464 yards to 280, and each team had nine drives in the game.

George Pickens, the Steelers wide receiver who has been very outspoken about his team’s performance in recent weeks, had one more blow for the offense.

“Yeah, I’ve seen signs of growth for sure,” Pickens said when asked about the offense, via Pro Football Talk. “Since last year, the first year I was here, there was a lot more growth for sure.”

But did that make you optimistic for the future?

MIKE VRABEL IN TALKS TO BECOME PATRIOTS’ NEXT HEAD COACH: REPORT

“Uh, no,” he said.

He did not elaborate on the comments. He led the team with five receptions for 87 yards and caught one of Wilson’s touchdown passes.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin put the blame on him. The loss made it six in a row in the postseason.

“I’m just evaluating what happened tonight,” Tomlin said. “As I told you earlier in the week, those are my bags, not the bags of this collective. And so my energy is in that group there and what they were willing to give and the journey that we have taken this year. And certainly “Tonight had a disappointing ending.”
