Stellan Skarsgård believed his son Alexander tried to be rebellious when he left acting to join the army.

Alexander also began his acting career at the age of 13, but left to pursue a career in the navy.
During the conversation, the 74-year-old man asked his son: “You went to the army. Did you do it against me, to provoke me?”

“Looking back, I don’t think it was an act of rebellion against you. But coming from a bohemian family, I thought, ‘I want to find my own way.’ The most extreme contrast would be joining the military. So, it wasn’t a conscious ‘fuck you, dad’ thing.”
Stellan also admitted during the talk that he has always been proud of himself for not interfering in his children’s career decisions.
