Sterling gave his brother his long -awaited gold jacket on Saturday. The gesture arrived years after his brother gave him a Super Bowl ring, something he described as “the most precious gift I have received.”

Sterling retired after the 1994 NFL season. Three seasons later, the Denver Broncos defeated the Packers in the Super Bowl XXXII. The victory assured the first Shannon championship ring. He gave his older brother the coveted Super Bowl ring, before winning two more titles in the next three years.

During his Saturday speech, Sterling recognized the special link he shared with his younger brother. “Everything I did atlectically, everything, I did for an audience of one,” Sterling said. “I didn’t want this person to look outside our own table to find a model to follow.”

Shannon was included in the Hall of Fame in 2011. At that time, he declared that his older brother was the best soccer player between the two.

“The last time I was here, you said you were the only professional football player in the Hall of Fame that could say this, that you were the second best player in your own family. Well, I agree with that statement …” Sterling joked.

“It would be my extreme pleasure to be the only player in the Hall of Fame of Professional Soccer with two gold jackets.”

The Sharpe brothers became the first duo of brothers in the history of the NFL to be consecrated in the Hall of Fame of Professional Soccer.

In a pre -recorded video reproduced before Sterling took the podium, Shannon praised his brother for playing a physical football style.

“It was a cargo train,” Shannon said. “He was a physical receiver. He ran to contact. He did not shy away. It didn’t matter if it was an inclination on the environment and had to go through two cups …

“I wanted to distribute the punishment, as they were going to try to punish him.”

The old Sharpe spent his historic race with the Packers, winning the honors All-Pro three times and leading the NFL to receive TouchDowns twice. He was also the first player in the history of the League in finishing consecutive seasons with more than 100 receptions.
