It’s almost time to say goodbye stranger things.
The fifth and final season of the incredibly popular Netflix show, which helped fuel the platform’s success, will finally debut on November 26 and 27. And, although Netflix only offers us the first four episodes, also known as volume 1, of stranger things season 5, they are sure to be full of important talking points.
Ahead of the return of the supernatural sci-fi horror franchise, everyone has their own ideas of what will happen, myself included. To that end, I’ve compiled a list of five things I think will happen in the first part of stranger things 5. So, grab some Eggos and your Walkman and bike to my house (read: keep going) to get my predictions for Season 5, Volume 1.
1. One of the key Stranger Things cast members will die
stranger things It has always been an ensemble piece. Yes, some characters feature more prominently than others, but each season has featured a variety of main and supporting characters.
So the last hurray of one of Netflix’s best shows is no different. As I noted in my guide to stranger things In the fifth season, the appearance of more than 20 actors is confirmed (21, to be precise). That’s not counting the minor characters I’d expect to see again as well, which could bring the list to 30 stars.
With franchise creators/overlords Ross and Matt Duffer making fun of it stranger things 5 It will be the deadliest entry so far, it is inevitable that some characters will meet their end. And, while it’s safe to assume that supporting players will likely die in Part 1, I think it would be much more shocking if one or two key characters died as well.
I imagine that many of stranger thingsThe main cast will make it to part 2, but it would be an emotionally devastating way to close volume 1 of season 5 with the death of, say, Joyce Byers, Jim Hopper, or even one of the children.
If Netflix wants stranger things While Season 5 will dominate the news cycle and online discussions until Season 5 Volume 2 arrives in December, killing off someone important would go a long way toward achieving that goal.
2. Volume 1 will end on a cliffhanger
This might be an obvious prediction. However, if the Duffer Brothers don’t kill off one or two major players in episodes 1-4, the next best option to keep the conversation flowing between volumes is to have the end of volume 1 end on a cliffhanger.
Think about it. Someone finds themselves in a dangerous situation that they can’t get out of, and just when you think it’s about to end, the screen goes black. Roll credits. Cue the shocked, wide-eyed, open-mouthed expressions of the spectators who now have to wait an entire month to find out the outcome.
We’ve already glimpsed a possible cliffhanger involving Will and Vecna in stranger things 5The final trailer with spoiler. However, I do not think that this scene will be the last one we will see in the fourth episode of this season, mainly because of its appearance in said teaser. and, with stranger things Season 5’s eight episodes are basically movie-length events, we’ve only seen a fraction of this season’s footage. There are countless unreleased sequences that could fit into the suspense.
3. We will find out what Vecna’s full plan is and more about his past.
It is clear that Vecna, alias stranger things‘ general villain, has a special interest in Eleven and her allies. It is also evident that the person formerly known as Henry Creel wants to punish the rest of the world for the traumatic events that eventually led to him becoming the monstrous entity that he is.
However, there’s still a lot we don’t know about Vecna’s master plan. Do you want to destroy the world and humanity? Or is he trying to turn it into a kingdom like the Upside Down? And why does he need Will Byers to help him achieve whatever his ultimate goal is?
It is also in the Duffers’ interest to reveal some crucial details about Vecna’s past.
Fans who have seen the prequel to the play. Stranger Things: The First Shadow They will know more about Creel’s backstory than those who don’t. To ensure stranger things 5 doesn’t address the big problem with Marvel and Star Wars, you’ll need to recap key moments of the work, preferably sometime in its first four episodes. Otherwise, some viewers might think they’ve missed crucial information from a previous season and/or be confused about how Eleven and company know certain things about Vecna that weren’t explained in past seasons.
4. A specific scene will go viral.
It was inevitable that stranger things Season 4 was going to be a huge hit for Netflix ahead of its debut in July 2022. Still, I don’t think any executive on the streamer’s payroll expected so many of its scenes to go viral.
Any sequence involving Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson: his final guitar-mashing battle against the demo bats and that ‘Chrissy, Wake Up!’ Video meme, to name just two, immediately comes to mind. He also does that iconic scene depicting Max’s escape from Vecna, namely the one set to Kate Bush’s song ‘Running Up That Hill’ which achieved cultural phenomenon status after being streamed more than a billion times on Spotify.
It seems inevitable, then, that stranger things 5 will have its own viral moments and/or instant memes. Whether it’s a cover of Queen’s ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’, aka the song used in stranger things The official Season 5 trailer, or a sequence that no one expected to be a highlight clip, I bet there’s a scene or two created with the goal of becoming the show’s next viral incident.
5. A trailer for Season 5, Part 2 will be shown.
Another easy observation to make, especially given Netflix’s tendency to close a volume of a show’s final season with a teaser for its next part.
Still, there’s no better way to hint at what’s to come than by showing a trailer for stranger things season 5 part 2 once the end credits of volume 1 have rolled.
Sure, the best streaming service in the world might wait a day or two, but Netflix knows what people want, and if you’re like me, you’ll want to see new footage once part 1 ends. After all, with a month to wait for episodes 5-7, we’ll need a sneak peek to look for clues about where the story will go next. Do it like this, Netflix.
