Strong rains probably through punjab

The Provincial Disaster Authority (PDMA) of PUNJAB issued on Thursday a weather alert warning about the heavy rains of the monzón in LaHore and several other cities of the province, urging the relevant departments and the public to remain attentive.

According to the general director of the PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, the seventh spell of monsoon rain has begun and is expected to continue until August 21. He warned that this spell is significantly stronger than the previous one and can cause intense rain in the river basins, as well as the Punjab plains.

“It is likely that monsoon showers affect most of the districts of the province,” Kathia said, and noted that urban and rural areas could be affected.

In response to the forecast, the head of PDMA has ordered all the attached commissioners who guarantee the preparation in the soil. He stressed that water and sanitation agencies (WASA), rescue 1122 and other relevant departments must remain on a maximum alert throughout the meteorological cycle.

The authorities have received instructions to guarantee the rapid drainage of rainwater from low areas and to deploy staff and machinery at strangulation points. Additional emphasis has been placed on maintaining effective drainage systems around roads, hospitals and public institutions to prevent interruptions.

Kathia added that all water removal stations must remain operational, with backup energy systems ready in case of interruptions.

Upon urge public caution, the DG attracted citizens to avoid unnecessary trips and recreational activities near the rivers, warning that flood conditions persist in several bodies of water throughout the province.

The PDMA said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with the district administrations to mitigate any potential damage.
