KARACHI: The port city will experience strong winds starting tomorrow, with gusts expected to reach speeds of 25 to 35 kmph, according to chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz.

The winds, coming from the northeast, will affect the city on December 24 and 25.

The forecast predicts a notable drop in temperature during this period, with the daytime maximum expected to remain around 25°C. However, the night is expected to be significantly colder, with temperatures potentially falling between 9°C and 11°C.

The weather expert’s comments come as the temperature in the country’s financial hub has dropped to single digits on multiple occasions during the current month.

The prevailing cold wave is not limited to the metropolis as the temperature has also dipped below the freezing mark in several areas of Balochistan.

Quetta’s temperature was recorded at -5°C, while in Kalat and Zhob it was -4°C and in Ziarat -7°C.

Meanwhile, several areas of Lahore and Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) also received the first rains of the winter season on Monday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the capital of Punjab is likely to receive more light rain in the next 24 hours. Furthermore, reflecting the change in weather conditions, snow has also started falling in Murree.
