At least 299 people, including 140 children, have lost their lives, and another 715, including 239 children, have been injured in sudden floods and torrential rains that have swept through vulnerable areas of the country since June 26, according to the latest figures issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), PTV reported.
According to the data, a total of 299 people, including 140 children, 102 men and 57 women. Among the 715 wounded, 239 were children, 204 were women and 272 were men suffered by wounds.
Since June 26, sudden floods and torrential rains have caused generalized destruction, damaging a total of 1,676 houses in the affected areas.
Of these, 562 houses were destroyed, while 114 suffered partial damage. The severe climate also led to the loss of 428 cattle, aggravating the impact on local communities.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has carried out extensive rescue operations, successfully evacuating 2,880 people from regions affected by floods.

To support the affected communities, the authority has distributed 13,466 elements of relief in vulnerable areas. These include 1,999 tents, 61 ration bags, 958 blankets, 569 bedspreads, 613 mattresses, 1,282 kitchen games, 1,163 food packages, 350 life jackets, 1,122 hygiene hygiene kits, canvases of 2,170 and 146 writing pumps, along with other essential supplies.
The authorities have established 71 medical camps, treating 577 people so far.
According to the NDMA, the crisis has affected multiple regions, and joint relief operations continue in collaboration with provincial and federal agencies.
Separately, all the sheets for 1122 rescue personnel in Rawalpindi have been canceled as part of the emergency preparations for the spell of the expected monsoon as of August 5. Previous deposits have also been completed in key locations throughout the district.
The Provincial Disaster Authority of Punjab (PDMA) warned that the sixth monsoon rainfall spell will begin on August 5, which raises concerns about possible floods throughout the province.

In an informative sheet issued on the instructions of Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, the PDMA confirmed that the rain was recorded in several districts in the last 24 hours, including Rawalpindi, Bahawalnagar, Murree, Chakwal, Sahiwal, Nareowal, Okara, Atock and Lahore. More rain is expected in most districts in the next 24 hours.
Emergency equipment, which include ambulances, fire vehicles, water rescue equipment and boats, has been placed in totally operational conditions.
