The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) counter-terrorism department has frustrated a great terrorist plot, killing a suicide bomber and its handle during an intelligence-based operation in the Peshawar Shamshatoo area.
According to CTD officials, the operation was carried out in a notice, avoiding what could have been a significant attack against a sensitive installation in the province.
“A suicidal terrorist and his manager were killed during the raid. Both belonged to the Fitna Al-Khawarij forbidden Terrorist team,” said a CTD spokesman. “They were planning a high impact attack on a critical objective.”
The CTD confirmed that the suicide attacker had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan. The weapons, a suicide vest, a underestimal gun (SMG), a gun and explosive material recovered from the site.
The murdered suicide bomber was identified as Munir Ahmed Gul. The CTD said the terrorists opened fire during the raid, but no victims were reported among security personnel. “This successful intelligence operation has frustrated a great terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the CTD added in a statement.
The department said that it is still attentive to cross -border threats and the militant elements that try to destabilize the province. The investigations are underway to determine if the group had local facilitators.
