Surfshark has just presented a patented technology “of the industry” designed to minimize the impact of lost VPN connections, but it is not called a VPN murder switch.
Surfshark Everlink occurs as a “self -control infrastructure,” explains the provider to Techradar, which works in the background to recover the VPN connections down while reducing the risk of exposure to the IP address. The new technology is now available by default in the Wireguard protocol on all platforms.
“We wanted to improve this industry standard and take it to the next level; instead of killing the connection, we want users to remain safe and privately,” said Surfshark technology director Donatas Budvytis.
Surfshark everlink: more privacy and convenience
One of the best VPN suppliers in the market, according to PakGazette tests, surfshark now promises to offer even more stable and safe performance. Surfshark Everlink is in fact a technology designed to improve what the supplier considers the most critical VPN quality metric: the stability of the connection.
“While other brilliant metrics, such as the number of servers, may seem important, the stability of the connection is something that really makes the difference for user experience,” explains Budvytis.
In a nutshell, Everlink acts as an additional security layer to help recover lost VPN connections.
This means that every time you connect to your VPN Surfshark service, you will also connect to the Everlink infrastructure. The tool promises to revive its connections when they fall by reconfiguring the VPN tunnel without the need to disconnect and reconnect from the virtual private network (VPN).
“If the VPN is a tunnel that ensures its traffic, imagine Surfshark Everlink as another that ensures that VPN tunnel. If a low connection is automatically changed to another, so that it remains connected and safe,” Budvytis said.

In addition to greater VPN connection stability, Surfshark Everlink also promises to increase the level of security and privacy protection.
As Budvytis explains, an unstable VPN connection is not just a nuisance, but it can also lead to exposure to IP address, leaving traceable and vulnerable users.
He said: “For journalists, activists, complainants and anyone who values online privacy, this can be a significant risk.”
However, all more private and safe VPN services already have a characteristic to minimize the risk of IP exposure: a VPN murder switch. This feature, as the name implies, kills your device’s internet access every time your connection falls.
However, Everlink seeks to avoid leaks while ensuring that users are safely connected. Talking to Techradar, Budvytis explains that when the VPN server connection falls, the application directly sends an application to the Everlink server for VPN reconfiguration information. Once this information is received, it is used to reconfigure the VPN connection without the need to disconnect and reconnect the VPN.
“The main advantage of this against the killing switch is that all this happens without problems and can maintain its connection infinitely,” Budvytis told us. “Users can still choose to use the Kill Switch function, but we wanted to offer something in addition to this.”
Surfshark Everlink was based on a patented technology (US11190491B1) and is now available by default in the Wireguard protocol on all platforms, including iOS, Macos, Windows, Android and Linux VPN VPN.
