Swati acquitted in the 2014 sitting case

Islamabad:

A lower court in Islamabad acquitted Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati in a case related to the violation of section 144 during the 2014 sitting of the party, citing lack of evidence.

Judicial magistrate MureĆ³ Abbas approved the request for Swati acquittal in the case, which was recorded to violate section 144 during the protests.

During the hearing, lawyer Sohail Khan read the content of the FIR and argued that there was no registered evidence to link his client with any violation.

He asked the court to absorb Swati, arguing that there was no legal basis to continue the trial.
