Sydney Sweeney just admitted she finds it “hard” to ask for help.
talking to News from heaven about his new movie christia, Based on the life of boxer Christy Martin, the American actress says that it was a common feeling between her and the character she plays.
“I have a hard time asking for help, and recently my friends have pointed this out to me and said, ‘Sydney, it’s okay to ask for help. You can do it.’ There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s really hard for me,” she admitted.
She added: “I think it’s hard, especially as a woman, there are so many expectations on us to have it all together.”
“And if we ask for help, then it’s a sign of weakness. And we don’t want to be seen that way, though, [a man] You can ask for it and no one says, “Oh, it’s weak.” But if a director asks for help, I’d say, ‘Oh, she’s not ready for this role,’” she said. Euphoria explained the actress.
The film’s director, David Michod, who also co-wrote the biopic with his wife Mirrah Foulkes, agrees and says it’s a feeling his wife has also had in the industry.
“Mirrah has had that experience many times. It’s what women have to go through, as soon as they reveal that they don’t know something, it’s like, ‘oh, she’s not prepared, she doesn’t know what she’s doing, she’s out of her depth.’ And I feel like I tell people I don’t know what I’m doing 20 times a day,” she admitted.
