The Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, has been having a quite rocky trip lately. Of course, if one were purely by the way, much of the main media in India (called “medium Godi” of many supporters who are not BJP in India) Modi still cannot do anything wrong.
However, the situation for him on social networks, in particular, where the Troll BJP army used to have influence until long ago, seems to have changed considerably.
Several things have contributed to this, and all this has given rise to very popular memes. The first is related to the Sindoor operation and how the Indians basically ran to the United States and asked him to ask Pakistan for a high fire. The United States forced, and the president of the United States, Trump, skillfully played the trade card and got both parties to stop.
However, shortly after the relations between India and the United States, specifically between Modi and Trump, Agrio, and the first refuses to publicly recognize any American role in Alto El Fuego.
In the weeks that have followed, Trump has said in the registry that he was the one who stopped the war, which he has repeated could have become nuclear, a war in which between five and seven planes were shot down (he has used the figure of five, six and more recently) after he persuaded both countries to finish it and, in return, offered them a trade agreement.
Pakistan skillfully played his letters, and his Army Chief was even invited to a lunch one by one by the most powerful man in the world, to obtain a relatively low rate from 19%, compared to India with 50%. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) also followed this by approving investment in Pakistan and, in particular, a financing of $ 410 million for the Reko Diq project.
The ADB declared that this was the first financing of this type under the new critical approach to manufacturing mineral values and marked the first financing of the bank of a mining project in decades.
And more potential rewards followed for Pakistan, with the USA resumes fishing imports after a prohibition of several years.
The rocky walk, so to speak, of course, is not completely related to the United States improvement ties to Pakistan. It has a lot to do with India’s own failures, in particular the insecure and paranoid personality of Modi. According to a German publication, he did not receive at least four telephone calls from the president of the United States, and although much of the main media in India they take it as a sign of Modi who faces a stalker, the fact is that Modi does not want to be confronted by the truth.
After all, he cannot admit before his followers of Hindutva on the right that it was India who requested a stop the fire with Pakistan, that would be a great non-not and could cost him the right-wing vote.
There is also the problem of the rate, but mainly derives from the mishandling of the Modi operation of the Sindoor Fiasco operation and its refusal to recognize the role played by the United States and in particular President Trump. This was exacerbated by its imports of oil from Russia, which is then refined by companies owned by Modi’s friends and is sold with considerable gain.
The consequence of this chain of events and the rapid deterioration of ties between India and the United States has seen Modi harassing the presidents of Russia and China at the SCO summit last week. While Godi’s media have made a large part of their photographs that hold the hands of Presidents Putin and XI, the Indian prime minister has been severely ridiculed and mocked for now running to express solidarity with a country that has defeated him at least twice in the war recently.
One is, of course, to speak of China, where in Galwan in 2020-21 his military inflicted a shameful loss in the Indian Army. And the other is the conflict with Pakistan in May of this year, where missiles and combat planes supplied to Pakistan by China were behind the demolition of up to seven combat planes of the Indian Air Force (IAF), including three raffles.
One can and should ask how modi can now justify the control encoder to China. And the answer to that is that this is an exercise of saving of the face for him because the only reason for him to act as he did during the SCO summit was because India and the American ties are now in an abysmal and probably seem insurmountable, at least for the rest of President Trump’s second mandate.
The photos on the SCO summit are just that, optical, and do not define a bilateral relationship. And in the past not too distant, India has tried to take advantage of the US. At the same time that they lead alliances such as BRICS, which the United States considers that they work against their interests.
That duplicity has now been called, and will not be seen as duplication only by America, but also by China. Pakistan’s own relationship with China is very strong and, as the May conflict showed, it is at a level militarily without any other similar example of the world. And it is unlikely that there is space for India in this.
India is clearly looking at a commercial relationship with China, which means that she does not see himself fighting a war with her. That is a positive development because, by extension, it should also seek the same type of relationship with Pakistan. That would be a potentially winning situation for both countries. But more will be needed than someone like modi to do that.
