Taryn Manning backpedaled after a viral video showed her in a heated physical altercation.
She insisted the images show a one-sided picture.
Manning denied reports that the woman involved was his partner.
The Orange Is the New Black alum spoke out on March 31, a day after TMZ published a clip of what appeared to be Manning in a confrontation with another woman.
In the video, Manning can be heard shouting, “Look what you’ve done to my fucking studio,” before threatening to call the police.
The person filming responds, “Call the police. I’ll show them you just attacked me.”
The 47-year-old took to Instagram to address the incident.
He said there was “a lot of context” missing from the coverage.
“I don’t want to see it because I don’t want to get angry,” he explained. “Because I know that violence is never, ever good.”
He went on to clarify that the woman in the video was not his girlfriend.
“She’s not my family. She’s not my girlfriend, my wife,” Manning said.
“Why do I have to house this random girl who was a fan that I befriended 18 years ago? It’s too much.”
The actress admitted that the release of the video left her feeling vilified.
“It’s like turning on me and sitting here having to endure it. Fed up. It’s bad. It’s not smart.”
Taryn handling past legal issues:
The incident has reignited attention on Manning’s past legal troubles.
In 2012, she was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges after allegedly attacking her personal assistant Holly Hartman, although prosecutors later dropped the case when Hartman declined to press charges.
Hartman later filed for a restraining order in 2016 after another alleged confrontation, which Manning denied.
For now, Manning insists that the latest video doesn’t tell the whole story.
“I seem like a violent, one-sided person,” he said, adding that he hopes the situation is understood in a broader context.
