Taylor Swift fans had already crowned Ophelia’s fate as the song of the year, using it for choreography, social media trends and all that, but the pop icon just took it up a notch.
The 35-year-old pop superstar took to Instagram and revealed a remix of the song, featuring none other than DJ band The Chainsmokers.
He Opalite hitmaker released the new club-rock version without warning and took fans back to 2016.
The new version quickly climbed the charts, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the original version has been at the top of Spotify’s global charts for 52 days, breaking all records.
Swift’s official management account, Taylor Nation, celebrated the release on Instagram, citing the song, which “wraps around us like a chain, a crown, a vine.”
The Chainsmokers shared their excitement in the comments, writing, “This is a true honor. We love you.”
As Swifties flocked to social media and expressed their joy and surprise, one wrote on X: “taylor swift dominating the music industry and now a remix with the chainsmokers? Close enough, welcome back to 2015.”
Another echoed: “It’s like my two obsessions combined. I love, love, love this!!!!!” and “OMG this is a hit,” chimed in a third.
“I had never anticipated that in this lifetime there would be a collaboration between Taylor Swift and the Chainsmokers,” noted one surprised Swiftie, while another declared: “Remix of the year.”
