He added: “In recent years, I have experienced the loss of several close friends in my personal life, and in my professional life I have witnessed the retirement or passing of many high-level colleagues whom I deeply respect. Those cumulative events made me reflect on the ‘time I have left as a creator.'”
I would like to share that I will be leaving Bandai Namco at the end of 2025. As the TEKKEN series reaches its 30th anniversary, a major milestone for a project I have dedicated much of my life to, I felt this was the most appropriate time to close a chapter. My roots are…December 8, 2025
Harada’s announcement comes shortly after the death of Tomonobu Itagaki, creator of Dead or alive and the reboot ninja gaiden series, with whom he shared a friendly but competitive rivalry.
However, it appears that Harada had been planning to leave for several years, stating, “Over the last four or five years, I have gradually been handing over all my responsibilities, as well as the stories and world-building I oversaw, to the team, which brought me to this day.”
In true Harada style, the man will not leave without fanfare. He has prepared an hour-long mix for the 30th anniversary titled ‘TEKKEN: A 30-Year Journey – Harada’s Final Mix’, which you can listen to on his SoundCloud page.
I have invested hundreds of hours in Tekken Since I was little, I greatly enjoyed most of the games in the series, including the more divisive entries like Tekken 4 and Tekken Tag 2 Tournament.
Of all the best fighting games, Tekken is the series that ranks first for me thanks to its iconic characters, deep 3D movement systems, satisfying juggling combos, and the best music in the business.
Personally, I will greatly miss Harada and his influence on the industry, and I hope that the series, including Tekken 8, You will be in good hands in the future. And naturally, I wish Harada all the best in his future endeavors.
The best game consoles.
