One terrorist was killed and two others injured when police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, sources said on Sunday.
According to sources, the operation was launched following reports of the presence of terrorists in and around Kalachi. Law enforcement personnel were attacked when the suspects opened fire upon seeing the police group, leading to a fierce exchange.

Sources said the slain terrorist was involved in several attacks on police and targeted killings, including an incident at Khatti check post. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including hand grenades, along with a motorcycle, were recovered from the militant’s possession.
Police and CTD officials said the operation was carried out quickly on the information provided by security agencies and termed it a successful action. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway to locate the injured suspects.
Separately, terrorists carried out a coordinated attack on the construction camp of a private company working on the Circular Road project in Doh Manzi area of Bannu.
Police said the attackers set fire to valuable goods and heavy machinery in the camp, completely destroying a crane, dumpers, excavators, a water tanker, generators, rollers, loaders, a solar plant, a tractor, diesel drums, curing compound drums and a welding plant.
Police described the attack as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the development project and spread fear in the area.
