Unidentified terrorists kidnapped and then martyred a police constable in Tank district, officials said on Friday.
The slain officer, Constable Qeemat Khan, was buried with full state honors at Police Lines in Tank.
Unidentified gunmen kidnapped Sheikh Azam Khora Constable Qeemat Khan in Daud Khel village when he was returning home after duty. The attackers later shot him dead.
A large number of police officers, security force personnel and officials, including district police officer Tank Shabbir Hussain Shah, attended the funeral prayer. Senior officers placed wreaths on the martyr’s coffin and a smartly dressed police contingent presented salute.
After the funeral, special prayers were offered for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs, national security and lasting peace in the country.
On the occasion, police officials paid glowing tributes to the fallen officer and promised that his sacrifice would not be in vain. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the fight against terrorism until complete peace is restored in Tank and throughout the country. They said operations against anti-state elements would be intensified to ensure public security and stability.
