The brother of an official of a terrorism department (CTD), himself, an agent, was martyred in a night terrorist attack in the Bannu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where strongly armed terrorists assaulted the family residence, opened fire and then burned the house.
Police told Express PAkGazette that around 20-25 heavily armed terrorists surrounded the house of the official of CTD Javed and his brother, agent Rafidullah, in the jurisdiction of the Hovid Police Station late at night.
The assailants opened fire indiscriminately. Despite being surpassed in number, agent Rafidullah resisted and defended himself with remarkable courage. He was dominated and taken with his two nephews.
The three were kidnapped and the terrorists also burned the house before fleeing. Later, Rafidullah was killed and his body was found abandoned in open fields. The two boys were still missing.
Shortly after the assault, the district police officer (DPO) Bannu, Salem Abbas Kulachi, arrived at the site with a strong contingent of the law personnel. A search operation was launched under its direct supervision to track and detain the attackers.
The funeral of agent Rafidullah was later held in the police lines of Bannu with all the official honors. A police contingent presented an honor guard, while the upper officers placed floral crowns in the martyr’s coffin. The ceremony was attended by the Dig Bannu Sajad Khan region, SP CTD Fazal Wahid, Sp City Tohid Khan, SP Research Sajid Mumtaz, along with a large number of police, agents and relatives of the martyr.
