The 8 -Bitdo controller has announced its next great Gamepad, the 8 -Bitdo Pro 3. It will be a successor of the 8bitdo pro 2, which remains listed in our guide to the best Xbox controllers and is an excellent budget retro game option.
The brand revealed the 8 -Bitdo Pro 3 controller through its official X / Twitter account. It can pre-order it now for $ 69.99 / £ 59.99 at Amazon, and will begin to send from August 12, 2025 in the US.
As for color, it comes in three flavors; A ‘g classic’ inspired by SNES, a more traditional ‘gray’ and a striking ‘purple’ variant.

The 8bitdo pro 3 sounds as if it had a very impressive set of features, TMR thumbs with a type of packing effect, retractable additional bumper buttons, lounge effect triggers and trigger locks.
However, for me, the outstanding feature has to be its adjustable magnetic face buttons, as well as the optional Joystick modules that could make the 8 -Bitdo pro 3 perfect for the best fighting games. And like the 8bitdo pro 2 before, it is likely that it is also a great adjustment for retro games, either on PC or through Nintendo Switch in the various retro nintendo retro libraries online.
In that note, 8bitdo has confirmed that the controller is compatible with the switch and switch 2, as well as the PC, Mac, Steamos and Android devices.
