It was reported on Thursday that the National Committee of Water Resources of the Assembly was reported that the construction work of Naulong Dam in Baluchistan would begin next year and the project will be completed until 2031.

Chaired by Khalid Hussain Magsi, the Committee discussed the scrutiny of the budgetary proposals of the Ministry of Water Resources related to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2025-26;

The committee expressed its discontent for the late presentation of the report for the reading of the members.

Syed Ali Murtza, secretary of water resources, informed the Committee of Budget Proposals for the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) 2024-25. The proposed PSDP 2025-26 describes key financing priorities for continuous and new initiatives in water management, irrigation and hydroelectric energy generation, he said.

The Naulong Dam project director informed the committee that the long -awaited dam project in the Mula River in Baluchistan was progressing towards the implementation, marking a significant milestone in the water and energy infrastructure of the region. Located approximately 395 km from Quetta, the project requires 4,282 acres of land, with an acquisition cost of RS1.95 billion, he said and added that the Baluchistan government has already published RS0.9 billion and the process of acquiring the acquisition of Lands has begun after the end. of necessary formalities.

The committee was informed that construction will begin in February 2026.
