The ANP office in the city of Orangi collapses after a strong explosion


The local Awami Party (ANP) office near Badr Chowk in the city of Orangi de Karachi collapsed on Wednesday after an explosion, hurting at least seven people, police said.

According to West Ssp Tariq Mastoi, the ruins had become a local office for the ANP and was not being used for residential purposes. The injured were identified as ANP workers who were inside the office at the time of the incident.

The rescue teams quickly arrived at the site. They recovered seven people injured from the debris and transferred them to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital.

According to Chhipa spokesman, Shahid Chaudhry, one of the injured, 34 -year -old, suffered burns injuries, while others suffered injuries to debris.

The initial findings suggest that the explosion was activated when a ceiling fan switch was lit, lighting an explosion of a suspicion of gas leakage. “Although the exact cause will be determined after greater investigation,” said SSP Mastii.

CCTV images showed a fire flash followed by an explosion by tearing the structure and throwing debris to the street.

The pump elimination squad and the crime scene unit were called to the site.

This incident occurs a month after a five -story building in Lyari collapsed killing 27 people, which led the Sindh government to establish a new committee, led by the Karachi commissioner, to investigate the status of other noisy buildings throughout the city.

Last month, the authorities had marked more than 700 buildings in Karachi as insecure, with at least 59 considered very dangerous.
