  • He says on February 8, the “manipulated” elections reason behind the current crisis.

The Tehreek-E-Tahaffuz-E-Ayeen-E-Pakistan (TTAP), a multiparty opposition alliance, emphasized on Thursday the need for a national dialogue to move the country away from economic and political crises in the midst of the situation of “worsening.”

In their joint statement issued after the conclusion of the long duration of two days in the Federal Capital, opposition parties declared: “The deterioration of the country’s situation requires a joint strategy to stabilize Pakistan through the National Dialogue.”

The two -day conference of the opposition held with the head of TTAP, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, in the chair of a local hotel in Islamabad.

The solution to the country’s problems lies in the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution, he added.

The debatable celebrated the “manipulation” on February 8, 2024 general elections responsible for the continuous economic, political and social crises facing the country.

“The current Parliament does not have a moral, political and legal position,” reads the statement.

The opposition discussion demanded to abolish all amendments that contradict the spirit of the Constitution. The conference described the “unbridled violation of constitutional and human rights” a complete denial of the rule of law in the country.

Referring to the repression of opposition parties, the debatable affirmed that the violation of “human rights” was a proof of the “fascism” of the titular government.

“The country’s constitution does not allow any Pakistani citizen to be harassed or arrested for any political activity,” the declaration added.

The opposition parties demanded that the titular government release all political prisoners in the country. He also urged the Federal Government to revoke recent amendments to the PCA Law (amendment), 2025.

In addition, he said that water resources must be distributed between the provinces in accordance with the 1991 water agreement.

The fresh and transparent elections were the only solution to the country’s current crisis, he read the joint declaration.

When addressing the conference, the head of SIC Sahibzada Hamid Raza condemned attempts to obstruct the event, saying that efforts were made to prevent the meeting from being held.

He criticized the restrictions in political discourse, and said that even a small group of individuals can no longer maintain discussions in the capital.

Raza stressed that attendees included members of the National Assembly and the Senate. Expressing his concern for the state of democracy, he said that it was at least to reassure that the voices that advocate constitutional supremacy were still being raised.

‘Those in power lack public support and legitimacy’

The president of the PTI, the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, said that people have increased and that their voices cannot be silenced. The opposition conference declared as a success, highlighting the growing public dissent against the current administration.

Gohaha, speaking with journalists from the Federal Capital, emphasized the need for judicial independence and the rule of law, emphasizing that a fair and impartial judiciary is crucial for democracy.

He revealed that there had been a suggestion to hold the conference at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s camera, but the committee decided the current place.

He clarified that this movement is not about revolution but to amplify the voice of people, which has already gained impulse.

Criticizing the government, he commented that those in power lack public support and legitimacy.

‘We will persist in our mission’

Former Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, while heading to the conference of opposition parties, criticized the government for suppressing dissent and restricting political freedoms.

He said that independent thought could not be silenced and promised not to allow such restrictions. Khokhar accused the authorities of retaining the Water Rights of Sindh and denying his due participation to the province.

Condemning the suppression of opposition’s voices, he said that constitutional violations were ongoing. He also criticized attempts to avoid the conference.

“The objective was to prevent this conference from happening,” said the former senator, adding that although the government claims to defend democracy, an opposition meeting fears.

He stressed that the conference aimed to devise an agenda for the improvement of the country.

According to Khokhar, Pakistan faces a severe political crisis, without signs of constitutional government. He affirmed that the social contract between the State and its citizens had broken.

Referring to the Law of Prevention of Electronic Crimes (PECA), said it had been used to suffocate freedom of expression. He asked for the resignation of those who currently occupy the key government positions.

The politician also emphasized the need to address the concerns of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sindh and Baluchistan. He promised that the movement for the restoration of the Constitution would continue.

“No matter how many police personnel members are deployed or the doors are blocked, we will persist on our mission,” he concluded.

‘Blind and deaf to realities’

Liaqat Baloch, attached to Jamaat-E-Islami, while talking at the conference of opposition parties, criticized the government for obstructing democratic processes.

He said that those in power become “blind and deaf to the realities around them”, resorting to all possible measures to impose restrictions. The JI leader expressed a deep concern about the threats facing the Federation.

The JI leader strongly condemned the curbs for freedom of expression, calling them unacceptable. He warned that when fundamental rights are removed, people are forced to look for alternative means to make their voices be heard.

Highlighting the dangers of federal authorities that ignore provincial concerns, emphasized that such negligence could lead to serious consequences.

He remembered the active role of his game in alliances such as Muttahida Majlis-E-Amal (MMA), stating that they always played a constructive role.

Baloch urged all democratic forces to defend the holiness of the Constitution, democracy and public mandate. He emphasized the need to avoid repeating past errors and requested a consensus on a national agenda.

The main leader of JI said the Constitution must be maintained at all costs and stressed the need to fight for judicial independence.
