Pakistan’s army personnel, Campo de Campo Syed also Munir, met with Azerbaijan defense minister, Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar Oglu, in Lachin on Wednesday to discuss regional security and defense cooperation.
During the meeting, the two military leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, with an approach in strengthening bilateral military collaboration and addressing shared regional challenges.
The Army Chief stressed Pakistan’s commitment to expand defense ties with Azerbaijan and praised the close and growing relationship between the two countries.

The Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense congratulated the Army Chief for his rise to the range of Marshal of the Field and expressed his satisfaction upon receiving the Pakistani delegation.
Colonel General reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthen Pakistan defense relations, qualifying him as a priority area under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the supreme commander in chief of the Azerbaijan armed forces.

The Army Chief thanked his hosts for his warm reception and emphasized the importance of mutual visits to advance strategic and operational cooperation between the two countries.
Yesterday, the Army Chief made an official visit to Tehran, where he met with Iranian military officers to discuss bilateral defense cooperation and regional stability.
During his commitments at the headquarters of the General General Staff, the head of the Army made detailed conversations with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Head of the General Personnel of the Iranian Armed Forces.
The two parties reviewed the evolutionary security scene in the region and agreed to improve military coordination, particularly along the shared border.
The discussions also focused on transforming the Pakistan-Iran border into a duct for commercial and economic growth. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to promote peace, stability and connectivity in the broader region.
Azerbaijan supports Pakistan
Earlier this month, in the midst of the growing tensions between Pakistan and India, Azerbaijan expressed his support for Pakistan and solidarity with his government and people.
The Azerbaijan government condemned actions by the Indian Army in a formal letter to Pakistan’s prime minister.
The message, delivered by Azerbaiyan ambassador, Khazar Farhadov, included condolences for those affected by the conflict and the wishes for the recovery of the injured. Azerbaijan also urged both parties to seek a peaceful resolution by diplomatic means.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Azerbaijan on Tuesday as part of a regional tour of four nations aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.
The visit remains previous in Turkiye and Iran, where the prime minister maintained high level discussions over bilateral cooperation, regional connectivity and mutual development objectives.
The tour will conclude in Tayikistan, where the prime minister is scheduled to attend the International Glacier Conference on May 29-30.
