Punjab Minister of Information, Azma Bokhari, said on Sunday that recent attacks against international fast food chains throughout the country were carried out under an organized plan.
When heading to a press conference at Lahore, the provincial information minister strongly condemned the attacks and said that people’s properties were being damaged.
“There are 25,000 Pakistani used in these food chains. The person who died in attacks on the food chain was also Pakistani,” said the minister, added that the country suffered attacks on the food chain.
“The attacks are being carried out in Punjab under an organized plan,” he added.
Bokhari warned that no one would be allowed to create a situation of law and order in the country. She also said that 149 suspects involved in attacks against food chains were arrested.
“A violent group is carrying out attacks on the development of Punjab,” added the minister.
The government promises a strict action against attackers
A day before, Interior State Minister Talal Chaudhry condemned the recent attacks against food chains, warning that the State would take strict measures against those involved.
Speaking at a press conference in Faisalabad, Talal said that the government was not negligent in their responsibilities and that he would make sure that no one who invested in Pakistan felt insecure.
“The State is no stranger to their duties. It is unacceptable that those who bring investments to Pakistan face such attacks,” he said.
Referring to recent incidents, the minister revealed that almost 20 attacks in private restaurants had occurred, mostly foreign fast food chains, in several cities.
He said that once the attackers were arrested, many sought forgiveness and expressed their regret. “The arrested are ashamed of what they did and apologized,” said Talal.
The minister also declared that no political party had assumed responsibility or has supported violence, distancing from events.
In recent days, a series of attacks on international food chain restaurants throughout Pakistan has been reported.
