Peshawar:
ADDITIONAL DISTRICT AND SESIONS JUGGE PESHAWAR, ISMATULLAH WAZIR, YOU HAVE EXTENDED THE INTERIM BAIL OF POKISTAN PEOPLE’S DEY (PPP) CENTRY SECRETARY GENERAL HUMAYUN KHAN AND PPP KHYBER-PAKHTUNKHWA PRESIDENT MUHAMMAD ALI SHA A Case Related to A Protest on Khyber Road and the Alleged Torching of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) protest camp.
During the hearing, the lawyer of the petitioners, the lawyer Gohar Rehman Khattak, appeared before the court and argued that his clients belong to a political party and were hired to organize a peaceful protest against the provincial government. He said that the protest is a constitutional right, and its clients exercised this right when the police responded with baton charges and tear gas, followed by criminal charges.
The court, after listening to the arguments, extended its provisional bond and postponed the procedures until July 12.
Speaking to the media after the hearing, the central secretary of the PPP, Humayun Khan, said: “We have claimed ourselves in past cases and we will be again. FIRS registered against us during the movement of ‘except the province’. The PPP will continue to increase its voice against this exploitation system on each platform.”
He firmly condemned the recent American attack against Iran, expressing solidarity with the Iranian people. “PPP meets the people of Iran. We will continue to play our role in safeguarding the rights of people in this province.”
He criticized PTI for his “revenge policy” and said: “We have faced their political victimization before and we will do it again. We are not afraid of these manufactured cases and we will not abandon our struggle for public rights.”
Humayun Khan also paid tribute to PPP leaders and workers for maintaining peace despite the “brutal repression” of the provincial government during the protest of ‘Save the Province’. “PPP workers have always raised their voice against oppression,” he added.
