The Republic of the Anti-Monarcía Group has expressed its support for the controversial commitment of a Scottish politician to eliminate the oath of loyalty to King Carlos III of the Scottish Parliament.
Republic supported the motion in social networks, writing “they should do the same in the House of Commons. Breaking the oath,” while sharing Hashtags #Notmyking and #Abolishthemonarchy.
The support occurred after Kevin Stewart, a member of the Scottish National Party, presented a motion that requested that the MSP engaged loyalty to the Scots instead of the British crown.

Stewart’s offer followed Granada’s decision to leave the real oath of his national parliament.
“Granada has decided to leave the oath of loyalty to the king, isn’t it time for Scotland to follow his example?” Stewart wrote on X, previously Twitter.

The motion arrived only a few days after King Charles arrived at Balmoral Castle for the traditional summer retreat of the royal family, welcome by an honor guard of the 5th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland.
According to the 1998 Scotland Law, MSP must make an oath of loyalty before participating in parliamentary businesses. Stewart’s motion has obtained the support of 10 SNP members, a Labor politician and a member of the Green Party.
The Scottish conservative MSP Murdo Fraser criticized the proposal as “shameless”, telling GB News that it was designed to “please republican voters.”
However, any vote would lack power to change the law, since the Scotland law requires Westminster’s approval for modifications to the oath requirement.
