Islamabad:

The National Assembly approved on Thursday the bill of the Port Port Authority of Pakistan, 2025, with dozens of amendments proposed by the PPP legislator Syed Naveed Qamar.

The bill was piloted by the Minister of State for Interior Control and Narcotics Talal Chauhdry in the Chamber.

Syed Naveed Qamar proposed certain amendments in clauses 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 16,18,20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 29, 35, 37 and 38, all of which were adopted by the Chamber after the minister did not raise objections.

The declaration of objects and reasons says that it is convenient to establish a port authority of land to provide and administer an integrated facilities system for the cross -border movement of goods and passengers in land ports in Pakistan to cause their operation, management, development of land ports and issues related to it and auxiliary issue.

It is imperative to establish a solid mechanism to carry out effective coordination with the border agencies for commercial facilitation in compliance with the commitments of Pakistan under international agreements and conventions for greater efficiency of the land port and the competitiveness of the regional port.
