Karachi:
The Sindh Assembly continued its debate on the provincial budget during the fifth consecutive day on Saturday. The session, chaired by Vice President Anthony Naveed, focused on the continuous government efforts to improve public services, raise living standards and addressing central problems throughout the province.
The Minister of Health of Sindh, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, shared the performance of her department in detail. He stressed that 19 units of chest pain are currently operating in Karachi. He also announced plans to acquire computerized tomography and magnetic resonance and improve the ICU facilities in public hospitals.
The minister dismissed the rumors that the Institute of Urology and the transplantation of Sindh (SiT) has been delivered to any NGO. MQM-Pakistan MPA Iftikhar Alam criticized the government of Sindh, claiming discriminatory treatment towards Karachi. He questioned the need for the underground karimabad step of one billion rupees.
Demanded an income distribution formula at the district level similar to the NFC award. The Minister of Education of Sindh, Syed Sardar Shah, criticized the economic survey of the federal government, claiming that obsolete data were used to misrepresent the performance of Sindh.
The Interior Minister of Sindh, Zia-Ul-Hassan Lanjar, described several initiatives taken to improve the law and order in the province. He mentioned a remarkable decrease in several categories of crimes compared to previous years.
According to the minister, 7,441 mobile phones were taken from the last year, but the frequency of such incidents has decreased.
