It was feared that several people disappeared on Friday after a passenger car immersed himself in the Panjkora River after a collision with a coach in the upper district of the province of Khyber-Pakhtunwa, local officials said.
The accident occurred in the Charkum area of the Dir district.
The rescue teams and the volunteers rushed to the site and began to look for the submerged vehicle and those who believe they were trapped inside.
According to officials, at least six people injured in the accident were transferred to a nearby hospital to receive treatment.
The images shared on social networks show that the car was swept downstream, while the spectators saw helpless from the riverbank. The number of occupants in the car remains unconfirmed.
Rescue efforts continue in difficult conditions, with strong river currents and the fading of daylight that hinders progress.
