For the first time in a decade, an American won at the France Open after Coco Gautf defeated Aryna Sabalenka in three sets to collect the trophy in Roland-Garros.
Gauff’s second Grand Slam was not easy. He had to throw the world number 1 play on the famous clay court. She was low after the first set went to Sabalenka, but Gound recovered and had a strident crowd behind her that led to a falling celebration at the end at the end.
Gounf received praise from the social networks of many for his victory, including Michelle and Barack Obama.

“Congratulations, @cocagauff!” Michelle Obama wrote. “His determination, strength and grace throughout the France Open has inspired us all, and has shown us what is possible. Proud of you!”
The former president added: “Congratulations to @cocagauff for an incredible championship in the France Open, the first American singles champion in @Rolandgarros in a decade. You make us proud.”
Gound was locked in the court, but there were many American celebrities in the stands in Roland-Garros, including director Spike Lee, actor Dustin Hoffman, the host of “Inside The NBA” Ernie Johnson and others.
Those in the world of tennis were delighted to see the tenacity and determination of Goeff.
“Congratulations to @cocagauff for its second title of Singles de Grand Slam, and its first singles title in #Rolandgarros!” Great Billie Jean King of Tennis wrote in X. “Excellent!”
Even Carlos Alcaraz, who will face Jannik Sinner in the final of Male Singles in Roland-Garros, took the time to congratulate the base.
“Congratulations @cocagauff!” He wrote in X.

Another legend of tennis, Martina Navratilova, described Goorf’s performance “Great return and fight!”
Even the Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat published for Gonff’s victory. She has heavy southern Florida ties after growing in Delray Beach.
As mentioned by many who congratulated her, Gound has two Grand Slam victories, winning the first at the Open of US 2023.

Gonff was classified as the female singles player No. 2 who enters this tournament, and leaves the number 1 with another trophy under his belt continues the season.
