The classic All-American of the Perfect Game: West Team Rallies to win

The West team recovered from a 4-0 deficit to win 9-4 on the East team in the All-American Classic game of Dick’s Perfect Game on Sunday in Petco Park.

Cole Prosek, 18, was appointed MVP of the game for his performance in the return victory.

West’s team scored five races at the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 4-0 deficit, and Prosek was right in the middle of the return. Continued a simple RBI during the rally and was part of the double key robbery that tied the game.

In the seventh inning, with the West team ahead 5-4, Prosek had another Single RBI to extend the leadership of his team.

Prosek is currently a last year student at Magnolia Heights High School in Senatobia, Mississippi, and undertakes to play university baseball in Ole Miss. It is also eligible for the MLB draft next year.

The classic All-American of Perfect Game presents the 60 baseball players of the TOP 60 high school in North America and provides them with a platform to show their talents in a national stage, an event of which the best players in the nation expect to be part.

“It’s amazing,” Prosek said about his MVP trophy. “I’m definitely going to put this in my room. It’s one of the best feelings I’ve had in baseball.”

The American Classic debuted in 2003, and since its inception, the game has seen some of the most important names in the major league baseball game in the event. Bryce Harper, Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt. JR, Gerrit Cole and Francisco Lindor are among the star players who have played in the game over the years.

Of the 1,126 players who have participated in the event in the last 22 years, 850 were recruited and 293 players were in the first round.

This year’s game was administered by the member of the Baseball Hall of Baseball Trevor Hoffman and the former San Diego All-Star Parents Ryan Klesko.
