The defense budget rose 20.2% to RS2,550b

Islamabad:

The Government has announced the main assignments for defense, civil administration, pensions, subsidies and subsidies in its 2025-26 financial year.

The defense budget has increased by more than 20%, since RS2,550 billion has been reserved in the 2025-26 budget, which will be spent on the operations, team and other needs of the Pakistan army, the Pakistan Air Force, the Pakistan Navy and related defense institutions.

For the expenses of the civil administration, RS971 billion has been assigned, which includes operational expenses of federal ministries, departments and the civil bureaucracy.

An amount of RS1,055 billion has been assigned for pension payments, which will be made to the employees of the retired government. According to the budget document, this amount increases every year, which adds to government financial problems.

As for subsidies, the Government has allocated RS1,186 billion for several sectors, particularly the electricity sector. These subsidies will be provided to low -income consumers, agricultural tubes and industrial sector to facilitate them.

For subsidies, RS1,928 billion have been assigned, which will be distributed among Benazir’s Income Support Program (BISP), Azad Jammu and Kashmira, Gilgit-Baltistan and the fused districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The objective is to promote development, well -being and financial stability in these regions.
