Islamabad:
With Eidul Azha less than a week, the demand for butchers in the capital has increased significantly, driven by the anticipated increase in the slaughter of sacrifice animals during the Islamic festival.
While some residents have already bought their animals, many are still looking for proper cattle. In this context, the role of butchers has become crucial to guarantee the proper preparation of killing and meat.
Due to their high demand and limited availability, professional butchers have increased their service positions compared to last year.
Khawar Shehzad, a butcher who also directs a meat store in the Islamabad sector, I-10, said Eidul Azha is a special Islamic festival after the sacrifice of animals at mass level, highlighting that everyone looked for professional butchers to cut their meat, which caused a great demand.
“Everyone is looking for a professional and skilled butcher in Eidul Azha to guarantee a quality meat cut, this is our high season,” he said.
Shehzad shared her killing rates for this year, noting that cows killing the first day of EID is priceless, while the rate falls to RS20,000 on the second day. For the third day, the charges range between RS15,000 and RS18,000, depending on the demand.
The charges for goat and sheep sacrifices vary from RS6,000 to RS7,000, he added.
While the residents of the territory of the capital of Islamabad (ICT) are preparing anxiously for Eidul Azha, many have expressed concern about the high prices of sacrifice animals and the high rates charged by the butchers.
Tariq Mahmood, a resident of the same sector who bought his animal in EID, said he was trying to obtain the reserve of a professional butcher for his preparation of meat, which has high rates and a high demand, and added: “If I cannot reserve one, I will go with a seasonal one.”
According to Tariq, seasonal butchers are more or less efficient and skilled, sharing the experience of their previous year.
Although the demand for professional and qualified butchers is remarkably high, people somehow manage to find an adequate person to sacrifice their animal.
To help meet the growing demand, many butchers from all over the country also travel to Islamabad during EID. These visiting butchers often charge a little less and provide a practical solution to the scarcity of qualified labor of the city. Their presence also gave them the opportunity to improve their profits of what they typically have in their cities of origin.
