The demand for MLB tickets is high as the season begins

The east and west coasts are the home of the most popular baseball equipment when it comes to the sale of major league baseball tickets. According to Stubhub, they are the reigning champions, the Dodgers, with the largest number of tickets sold. The red socks are number 2, and their division rivals for a long time, the Yankees, the American league champions last season, are number 3.

As for the team with the highest growth, they are the athletics, whose sales of tickets in Stubhub multiplied 12 times since the same time last year. Stubhub spokesman Adam Budelli says that Oakland’s moving to a temporary home in the Sacramento area can have something to do with the increase in demand. “It will be a unique opportunity for a base of the major leagues to see their local team play in a much smaller stadium, obviously, a triple-A stadium during a whole season. So you go from the Oakland Coliseum, one of the traditionally larger baseball stadiums that were, now, up to approximately 14,000 tickets per game,” says Budelli.

The METS, who arrived at the National League championship series in 2024, saw triple ticket sales. “His low season promoted by the emotion of signing Juan Soto of his Crosstown rivals. And from that, we actually saw, the first 24 hours since Juan Soto’s signature, that announcement was made, we saw a six and a half jump from the general sales,” says Budelli.

When it comes to general demand, not only comes from North America. Outside the United States and Canada, buyers in Japan, the United Kingdom and Australia are one, two and three when it comes to the amount of major league baseball tickets bought in Stubhub.
