I have recently jumped again Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 with two feet, originally so my friends and I could clean up the expansions we’d missed, but I’ve completely, totally gotten back into it.
And it seems like the perfect time, as the latest season of the game, Rise Up, just released and added a ton of new modes, difficulties, items, game modes, and more, which will keep my commitment to the game extremely strong for weeks.

Elsewhere, and just when I thought I had finished refining my last loadout, the new season also included some pretty cool looking gear that caught my attention as well.
While I’m not constantly investing hours and hours into specific missions to make even the slightest improvement to my gear, I am deeply invested in my no-headshot and critical hit chance/damage rifle build right now. The arrival of the Core Strength gear set seems ideal for me for getting upgrades, as well as when switching weapons between my rifle and LMG. It comes at the right time, so I hope I can include it in my build. Excellent.

On the other hand, the underrated (in my opinion) Classified Assignments returns with two new missions this season. These are standalone experiences that appeal more to those players, like me, who want to explore places and soak up some division 2 story telling.
The first is Recovery from the Library of Congress, which is available now as part of the season launch, and The Capitol Globe Anomaly will arrive later.

Changes are also coming to Retaliation mode, which my friends and I found to be great for getting loot from certain parts or brands, but also very difficult. And it doesn’t look like they’re getting much easier with this latest change, as the formidable Black Tusk faction can now agitate to initiate a Retaliation event, but also offer their own special maneuver objectives and Kill Squads.
This is offset by a generous increase in the time you have to vacuum up loot at the end of a Retaliation from 30 to 90 seconds. But in my experience, it will be a challenge to consistently get to the end of a match like this, especially against Black Tusk.
It’s never been a case of “just when I thought I was out, they bring me back” with me and division 2 — I always come back to playing with my friends and will continue to do so, but the perfect storm of gaming The resurgence of division and the release of the new season means I’ll probably be on division 2 for a while longer this time.
It’s one of my favorite games and updates like this continue to prove that and draw me back in, despite my enormous anticipation and desire for The Division 3’s arrival.
