President Donald Trump welcomed the Los Angeles Dodgers to the White House to celebrate his 2024 World Series Championship on the New York Yankees.
While Trump promoted the team’s achievements and his star players, he took a small jab in Boston’s red socks to exchange Mookie Betts to the Dodgers before the 2020 season. Since then, Dodgers have won two World Series titles with Betts in the team and are prepared to return it in 2025.

Trump recognized the agreement made by the Dodgers.
“Mookie Betts, Oh, it’s good,” Trump said before shaking the hand of the star player. “That guy can play, right? I mean, incredible. I don’t mean that I saw him when I was in Boston, but I did it.
“I didn’t think it was a particularly good exchange when they succeeded, and he was right.”
President Trump is a New York Yankees fan and is mentioned as such during his speech. He also talked about the difficulty of sitting next to the late owner of the Yankees George Steinbrenner during a game.

Boston changed to Betts and David Price to the Dodgers for Jeter Downs, Alex Verdugo and Connor Wong on February 10, 2020. Wong is still with the Red Sox, Downs is playing in Japan, Verdugo played for the Yankees last season and is currently on the list of 40 men of the Braves of Atlanta.
The Red Sox won the World Series in 2018, with Betts and Price on the team. The former pitcher retired from baseball in 2022.
