LAHORE:
The Punjab government has assigned 24.4 percent of the non-development budget for financial year 2025-26 to the education sector.
The Government assigned RS148 billion for the development of the sector, marking an increase of 137% during the past year and RS661 billion for non -development expenses.
The allocation refers to the school, the departments of higher education and literacy and non -formal.
The budget includes allocations for the laptop scheme and the Honhar scholarship program, in addition to the provision of facilities and the construction of shelters, libraries and computer laboratories.
The Government assigned RS15 billion for the scholarship program. Last year’s allocation was RS4.5 billion.
According to budgetary documents, he plans to distribute 112,000 laptops among students during the year through an assignment of RS15.1 billion for the Punjab CM laptop scheme. Last year, RS37 billion had been assigned for the scheme and 40,000 students had benefited from Do Far.
In the annual budget, the Punjab government has introduced the management authority of the Punjab (Peima) education initiative and assigned RS40 billion for the construction of new classrooms, IT laboratories, update of school buildings and facilities provisions.
The Government also assigned RS4 billion to subcontract government schools during the year. An assignment of RS5 billion has been proposed to verify the delivery relationship of government schools.
The Punjab government assigned RS5 billion for a project to establish ‘Eminence Schools’ by Standard International and RS3 billion to expand the establishment of centers of excellence of early childhood education.
He assigned RS35 billion for the Punjab Education Foundation to support low -income private schools to educate children in need.
In addition, RS3.7 billion for the Training and Evaluation Authority of the Punjab (Pecta) and RS6 billion curriculum for the CM School Meal program for which RS77 billion have spent last year last year has been assigned last year.
The assignments include RS2 billion to build eight government associated universities for girls and the same amount for digital laboratories in public sector universities.
An assignment of RS25 billion for higher education has been proposed together with RS2 billion for the construction of the University of Engineering and Technology of Mian Nawaz Sharif in Kasur.
In next year, RS5 billion will be assigned for special education, while RS1.8 billion will be spent to provide transport services in special education schools.
