Pakistan and Bangladesh have officially resumed direct trade, with the first load ship backed by the government that comes out of Port Qasim.
According to Express News, this marks the first direct trade and formal commercial commitment between the two nations from the fall of Dhaka. The initiative represents a significant milestone in economic relations, restoring official commercial ties after decades.
As part of the agreement, Bangladesh will buy a total of 50,000 tons of Irri Rice of the Pakistan Commercial Corporation of Pakistan (TCP). The agreement was ended in the first week of February.
The order will be fulfilled in two phases, with the second shipment of 25,000 tons scheduled for early March. Together with this shipment, direct shipping routes between the two countries will also be restored, further strengthening economic ties.
