There is nothing better than a good puppet show and Fraggle Rock it’s a In fact Good puppet show. So I’m delighted to see it return for a Christmas special on Apple TV.
Fraggle Rock’s First Snowfallwhich is now available on one of the best streaming services in the world, is a family film that offers a lot of fun in its 34-minute duration.
What is The First Snow of Fraggle Rock about?
Look
It’s about half an hour. Ho ho!
I’m joking, of course. If you’re wondering what to expect from it, here’s an official press release from Apple: “The Fraggles eagerly await the first snowfall of the season and all the traditions it brings. But when only a single snowflake arrives and Gobo can’t write the annual Christmas song everyone expects, the season is thrown off course.
“For the first time, Gobo travels to the human world, or as the Fraggles call it: outer space, to find unexpected musical inspiration. And for the first time, back at the Gorg castle, Junior is overwhelmed by the arrival of a new baby, Gorg, joining the family. This holiday season, the Fraggles and Gorg learn that beautiful moments aren’t always perfect, but they can be as unique and memorable as snowflakes.”
I haven’t seen this one yet, I’m saving it for the holidays, but the reviews seem good. Sure, Fraggle Rock does not have the anarchic madness of The Muppets or the variety of sesame streetbut it’s still fun, fluffy entertainment designed to take your worries away and leave you in a good mood.
According to Sparkly Pretty Bright, “While Christmas is never expressly mentioned, Fraggle Rock’s First Snowfall It feels very Christmassy in appearance, word and deed… [it’s] filled with the kind of seasonal spirit we all need at any time of the year, but especially at the most wonderful time of the year, when expectations are high and we just have to remember that, however it turns out, it will be perfectly lovely and just what we need at that moment.”
It’s also doing well on Reddit, where viewers of the Apple TV sub-Reddit say that Apple has done a “great job reviving Fraggle Rock” and that the “puppets and sets [are] flawless.”
All of this is to say: I didn’t need any more convincing to watch it, but I definitely will now.
