Rawalpindi:
The Department of Control of Special Taxes, Taxes and Narcotics has intensified its campaign to recover commercial and national property taxes in the Rawalpindi area after a 55 percent deficit in the collection of property, professional and luxury taxes.
In a movement to accelerate the collections, the Secretary of Special Taxes and Taxes has imposed an immediate prohibition of the transfers and goes for special tax inspectors and field personnel until June 30.
Property tax offices will also remain open on weekends throughout the month of June. The General Director of Special Taxes and Taxes has issued strict directives to ensure that all fiscal objectives are met at the end of June.
According to reports, property tax districts in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum are between 50 and 54 percent below the objectives, while the newly designated tourist district of Murree, known as Malika Kohsar, has recorded a deficit of up to 60 percent.
In response, the department has launched a large -scale operation, sealing 126 property units in non -compliance and recovering a total of RS2.89 million in pending taxes.
Seven special tax and tax officers have been met in the Rawalpindi area in the Efficiency, Discipline and Responsibility Law of Punjab (Peeda) employees for not fulfilling the recovery objectives and can face the dismissal.
