Hold Delhaize, one of the world’s larger food groups, has confirmed that he lost confidential data of his business in the United States in a cyber attack in November 2024.
The confirmation occurred after the responsible threat actor, Inc ransom, added the company to its data leak website, sharing sample documents they claim were stolen in the attack.
“According to our research to date, certain files from some of our internal commercial systems in the United States were taken,” said a spokesman for Ahold Delhaize Bleepingcomputer. “Since the incident was detected, our teams have been working diligently to determine what information can have been affected.”
Under investigation
In early November 2024, Ahold Delhaize revealed a cybersecurity incident that forced him to close parts of his IT infrastructure.
“This problem and subsequent mitigation actions have affected certain brands and services of Delhaize USA, including several pharmacies and certain electronic commerce operations,” the company said at that time.
The company said it was still investigating the incident, and if it determines that the client data were taken, it would notify the affected people.
“If we determine that personal data were affected, we will notify the affected people as appropriate. In addition, we have notified and updated the police,” added Ahold Delhaize.
