A former Arsenal youth player has died after suffering a significant brain injury during an English match that is not from the Liga on Saturday.
Billy Vigar crashed with a concrete wall during the game in Wingate and Finchley while trying to prevent a ball from running out, according to ESPN.
The 21 -year -old was placed in an induced coma and underwent surgery on Tuesday in the hope of helping his recovery. However, Vigar died Thursday for his wounds.

“With great sadness that Chichester City Football Club has to confirm the death of Billy Vigar,” said the club for which he was playing in a statement on social networks.
“We request that your family’s privacy be respected at this more difficult time. Rest in peace Billy. Always in everyone’s hearts in the Chichester City Football Club.”

Vigar’s death led Chichester City to postpone his scheduled match against Lewes on Saturday.
His family issued a statement through the club: “The responses to the original update show how much Billy was thought and loved inside the sport. His family is devastated that this happened while he was practicing the sport he loved.”

Vigar joined the Arsenal Academy in 2017 and signed a professional agreement with the club in 2022.
“All in Arsenal are devastated by the surprising news that the former graduate of the Billy Vigar academy has died,” Arsenal said in a statement. The club described him as a “powerful and versatile striker.”
“All our thoughts are with their family and their loved ones at this time. Rest in peace, Billy.”

The premier division of the Isthmian League, the Semiprofesional League in which Chichester City plays, announced that a moment of silence would be observed before all the games of this weekend. The players from all over the league will also use black bracelets to honor.
