The former College Chandler soccer star Jones dead at age 33

Chandler Jones, an open open receiver who starred in the Spartans of the State of San José and then for Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Soccer League, died, the school announced Monday.

He was 33 years old.

Jones was identified as the victim in a pedestrian accident on the Marina Highway in Los Angeles on Sunday, mynewsla.com reported, citing the foreign doctor’s office. The authorities said Jones was beaten and killed by a driver in a Toyota Rav4.

The incident occurred at 2 am local time. Jones was declared dead on the scene.

“Always in our hearts, #89,” wrote San José’s state football in his X account. “In the loving memory of the Spartan receiver and coach, Chandler Jones.”

Jones, native to Los Angeles, finished his university career with the Spartans as the leader of all school time (248) and catches of Touchdown (31). He was the only player in the history of the school to register at least 50 receptions in each of his four seasons with the Spartans.
