- Nintendo is ‘losing his identity’ according to former PlayStation Shuhei Yoshida
- Yoshida suggested that Nintendo is more focused on hardware than in innovation
- He says that the Switch 2 that offers third -party titles for new players is “exciting”, but less for those who already play the same games on multiple platforms
The former PlayStation executive, Shuhei Yoshida, believes that “Nintendo is losing his identity” by focusing more on the hardware of the Switch 2 instead of innovation.
In a recent interview with Easy Allies after Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, where we finally received a deep look at the next console, Yoshida shared his thoughts about revelation, calling him a “mixed message of Nintendo.”
“In a sense, I think Nintendo is losing his identity, in my opinion,” said Yoshida. “For me, it’s always about creating a new experience, such as designing hardware and games together to create something, [an] Incredible new experience. But Switch 2, as we all anticipate, is a better switch, right? “
Yoshida explained that Nintendo has always done things differently when it comes to its revelations, but now compares it with what other companies, such as Sony and Microsoft, usually do when focusing on hardware details.
“It is a bigger screen, more powerful processor, greater resolution, 4K 120 fps. They even made their hardware person start the transmission as other platforms do.
“And because it is a better switch, the central premise of the entire Switch 2 is ‘we improve things’, and that is something that other companies have been doing all the time.”

Yoshida praised the ability of switch 2 to offer third -party games such as Elden Ring: Fog Edition For the first time for the new players, but suggested that he was less tempting for those who already play games on multiple consoles.
“Of course, it is a more powerful switch, so it’s great if your game was only in Nintendo hardware,” said Yoshida. “It’s the first time to play incredible games like ELDEN RING. But for us, as, the main players, who have multiple hardware and play games in PlayStation, Xbox, PC, the games that showed, especially third parties … In theory, it is surprising to have all these industry game stars in Nintendo hardware, however, what they showed were … Oh. “
The Nintendo Switch 2 officially launches on June 5, 2025 and will cost $ 449.99 / £ 395.99 or $ 499.99 / £ 429.99 for a Mario de Mario Kart bunch.
