The businessman John Mappin recalled a private informative session at Windsor Castle that, he says, presented Queen Elizabeth II to the work of American activist Charlie Kirk, the conservative commentator who was killed this month in Utah.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Mappin said his friends Lord and Lady Plunket informed the late queen and Prince Philip about tea on the turning point, the Kirk youth movement founded in the United States and then expanded to Great Britain.

Mappin emphasized that the queen had not personally met Kirk, but informed her about her mission.

“Prince Philip found him fascinating, while he loved the idea that Charlie was bringing younger people to the church,” Mappin said.

He added that Elizabeth, as head of the Church of England, valued Kirk’s open Christianity.

Kirk, 31, was shot dead on September 10 while talking at the University of Utah Valley.

His murder surprised supporters in both countries, and their funeral is expected to attract figures, including Donald Trump.

Mappin said the Queen’s support response stressed her own Christian devotion for life:

“She appreciated Charlie’s sincere love for Jesus Christ and what she was doing.”
